When I reviewed the Xiaomi I was convinced that I was one of the best companions of Google Fit. What I did not expect was that Xiaomi Mi Band 4
Would do what you could consider iterative changes and still make the Mi Band 4 feel like an indispensable wearable.
To start, considering that Wear OS is still in a very bad state, things could not be more different in the band market (or fitness watch).
Until Mi Band 4 arrived, I had used the previous version fairly consistently for almost nine months.
As a gym and sports partner, it was so good in my experience.
Just below that “sweet spot” of you only get a lot for your money.
The renewed Mi Band model retains the same features that have made it so popular and one of the best fitness bands in the entire market.
Normally, iterative updates may look a lot like those of a company, but it really isn’t the case with Mi Band 4.
It improves all aspects and does so without a massive price increase.
It has more than enough new additions and extras to make. Looking closely worth it.

Design Update with a touch of renewal
From a distance or at a glance, it is actually quite difficult to differentiate the Mi Band 3 and 4.
It still seems almost identical until you inspect more.
The lovely little dimple that acted as the main “button” has been removed, and that saddens me.
Instead, you get a small flat circular capacitive touch button.
It is not so nice to use but it works the same way.
The most important addition is the 0.95-inch color AMOLED screen which is a massive update on the 0.78-inch monochrome screen that is seen in Mi Band 3.
I was very excited to see it in person and was not disappointed.
The 120 by 240-pixel screen can reach a maximum brightness of 400 nits, what I found was enough to see it in broad daylight.
I’m not sure if the color screen is the reason why the shape of Mi Band 4 is flatter than the more curved Mi Band 3, but it doesn’t make a big difference.
I will say that the flat screen is actually easier to use than the curved screen with sweaty hands.
Despite a substantial increase in screen size, the Mi Band 4 still weighs only 22 g.
For something designed for physical wear, it is a perfect weight.
The silicone strap is also very comfortable.
It is practically the same strap that was found in previous Mi Band models.
You put it in the loop that best suits your wrist.
You can also get replacement belts if they wear out.
I found that in my Mi Band 3, the silicone strap loosened a little over time.
I can imagine that the same thing will happen the longer you use the Mi Band 4.
I can’t imagine that it will affect most people unless you are going to swim a ton since chlorine can cause the watch straps to turn fragile over time.
The new design retains water resistance up to 50 meters or 5 atmospheres, which means that the Mi Band 4 is the ideal swimming band.
I must say that I prefer the slightly more bubbly design of Mi Band 3, especially the capacitive button, but I like the familiar look of Mi Band 4.
Software and Ecosystem More of the same.
To configure Mi Band 4, it depends on the Mi Fit application, which is frustrating as it is packed with features.
You can link to your Google Fit account right away, which is fine, but in the process of unlinking my Mi Band 3, now I can’t link to my Mi Band 4 correctly.
This problem has affected more than myself, as recently we inform
While that is my problem, the training follow-up characteristics have proven quite accurate in my experience.
There are some new swimming modes that can help the band calculate its movements.
The distances it has covered, the calories burned, the exact number of movements and then gives it a score so it can analyze its own performance.
Mi Band 4
I will say that the limitations found in Band 3 return here.
It is still disappointing to have so few built-in and trackable exercises.
If your workouts include weightlifting instead of cardio, you may want to look elsewhere or look for an alternative exercise band.
Even so, it is good to be able to launch exercises directly from the band.
Since this is what a color screen has, you get some more customization options over the previous generation.
With the Mi Fit app, you can change the main watch face to one of approximately 77 options.
However, I will say that most are completely horrendous, which is partly the reason why.
I kept the basic “stock” watch face that shows the time and the number of steps I have taken throughout the day.
I hope we will see some more customization options in the future but for now.
The faces the new watches are much better than the old monochromatic alternatives of Mi Band 3. Hopefully, if Xiaomi reads this, they can improve the selection soon.
There are also sleep tracking features, and it turns out to be one of the areas where the Mi Band 4 really excels.
Some of that is due to the size of the band, you are more inclined to keep it on while you sleep than a large and bulky wristwatch.
Keep track of your light and deep sleep cycles and awake time, then record everything and give you a score of one to 100.
You can even compare your scores with other Mi Band users.
I’m not sure what all this means in the grand scheme of things, but it’s nice to be able to track your sleep patterns.
Other extras of the software include the possibility of programming the screen in schedules and in night mode.
They are excellent if you want to continue using your band while you sleep, but you don’t want to be disturbed or disturbed by the person with whom.
You are sharing the bed by having a screen of 400 nits on fire with maximum brightness.
Battery life Good, exceptional limit
Having a color screen can make you worry about the battery life of Mi Band 4, especially since the AMOLED monochrome in previous versions offered such substantial performance.
You don’t have to worry about longevity with Mi Band 4, as it still maintains a solid 15 to 20 days with a single full charge.
In my experience, after 15 days I still had about 15% of the battery.
Mi Band 4
That was with the regular monitoring of heart rate and the use of GPS while playing football for two hours per week and a 40-minute gym session three times per week.
If I was worried about battery life, then I shouldn’t.
The Mi Band 4 has excellent battery performance.
The charge takes about two hours for the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 to go from zero to 100%.
The new cradle type charger is much better than the old two-pin slot that was meticulous and frustrating in equal measure.
You just have to release the “main body” of the Mi Band and fix it on the base.
It is well and securely and, although the USB-A cable is not the longest, it is fine to charge it through the USB ports of your computer or laptop.
The verdict remains the best value fitness band
Even with a slight price jump, the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 still manages to be the best smart fitness band on the market in my opinion.
There are competitors from brands such as Honor, Fitbit, and Garmin that offer similar experiences.
But I think they don’t match Mi Band 4 because you don’t get any important additions for the sake of about.
All-day comfort is a great advantage for a gym band, and this is easily the most comfortable option I’ve tried.
Normally I don’t like to use a watch for extended periods, but it’s exactly the opposite with Mi Band 4.
Mi Band 4
Not having to worry about loading is also another reason why I prefer a band or tracker to a real clock.
If you already have the Xiaomi Mi Band 3.
I still think that only the color screen is enough as an update, but for the most part, there aren’t a lot of features that make it completely essential.
That said, as a technological gift or an introduction to smart devices, there are few options that offer this level of value and utility.
You would be a fool if you don’t consider it.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 is available directly from Amazon for less than.
If you browse the Web, you can get better deals on import sites like Gearbest for less than.
It is also available for approximately the same price on eBay.
